“What IS RUle No. 8?”
The Rule? We can’t tell you that. Kinda like fight club, only slightly less violent.
The business started in a cozy 800sqft studio hidden within the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit. After 4 years of growth and a lot of learning, we’ve since moved on up (north a bit) to an airy 1200sqft studio in Rochester. We specialize in custom foil stamping of journals, notepads and stationery as well as hand-crafting an increasingly large variety of premium leather goods. We also really like weird, one-off jobs so if you have an oddball idea please drop us a line, we’d love to bring it to life!
“ WHo is Rule No. 8? ”
Ben - Owner and Designer
With a weird background graphic design, fabrication, and printing, Ben is RN8’s guy behind the leather shop and foil debossing work…. and also photography, social media and any business-related correspondence. Basically, if you are unhappy with anything, Ben is likely responsible for it.
But it’s cool, he’ll fix it.
Sam - Production Assistant
Rule No. 8’s first real employee! We were growing beyond what we could handle and really needed some extra muscle, so we’re very happy to have found Sam. She takes care of all of the behind the scenes product prep and packing so that things run smoothly even during our busiest times.
Indy - Puplic Relations Officer
She cuts productivity by about 30% and fills the studio with fur but she’s cute and clears every product with a sniff test before shipping. That’s a fair trade, right?
